Dr. Kat Cottrell found the Musicians’ Clinics of Canada
when looking to combine her love of music and medicine
and is delighted to finally start working with the team
in 2022. In the UK she attended the Royal Northern
College of Music as a pianist, flautist, and
percussionist before studying medicine at Imperial
College London. During her Family Medicine residency at
McMaster University, she completed research on the
impact of medical cannabis on recovery from
playing-related musculoskeletal disorders in musicians,
winning the Alice G. Brandfonbrener Young Investigator
Award through the Performing Arts Medicine Association.
She is also now a Board Member of PAMA and leads PAMA’s
monthly webinar series about the health of performing
artists. Her areas of interest are in trauma informed
care, having completed MDPAC’s psychotherapy training
program, and lifestyle modifications for health.
