Dr. Kat Cottrell, MBBS, CCFP, BSc, DipABRSM
Assistant Clinical Professor, McMaster University

Dr. Kat Cottrell found the Musicians’ Clinics of Canada when looking to combine her love of music and medicine and is delighted to finally start working with the team in 2022. In the UK she attended the Royal Northern College of Music as a pianist, flautist, and percussionist before studying medicine at Imperial College London. During her Family Medicine residency at McMaster University, she completed research on the impact of medical cannabis on recovery from playing-related musculoskeletal disorders in musicians, winning the Alice G. Brandfonbrener Young Investigator Award through the Performing Arts Medicine Association. She is also now a Board Member of PAMA and leads PAMA’s monthly webinar series about the health of performing artists. Her areas of interest are in trauma informed care, having completed MDPAC’s psychotherapy training program, and lifestyle modifications for health.
